Where do your vintage items come from?
The vintage items I have for sale online or at conventions have come from a number of places, estate sales, vintage stores, and the like. In all cases I inspect each item and note any damage that might be on the item. With vintage clothing it is recomended that you follow all care instructions on the tags.
How long will it take to get my costume?
A costume may take 1 week to 6 weeks. It also depends on the time of year you order, and the waiting list. The best thing to do is order as early as you possibly can. I will be very clear with you about my calendar and your need by date. I have not missed a single deadline yet.
Generally, it will take time (about a week) to get measurements and finalize the details of your costume with you, another week to obtain all fabrics and trims needed, and then at least another week of sewing time. This can be faster or slower depending on many variables.
How much will my costume cost?
Each costume is made especially for the client, and the cost depends on the materials used, the time it takes to gather materials, fittings, and construction.
The client will pay for all fabric and trim as discussed. You pay the price I pay, there is no up-charge on material costs. You will also pay a hourly rate, my hourly rate is $20.00. A full costume may require between 40 to 100 hours to complete. This figure includes such activities as shopping, fitting appointments, pattern making, layout and cutting, sewing, hand finishing, as well as other assorted skills. I keep detailed records of my time which is available for you to see at anytime during the creation process.
What if my costume doesn’t fit?
Mail Order Costumes: You must provide me with true and correct measurements. If the measurements you provide don't match you, I am not responsible. I will alter the garment, but you will be responsible for shipping and labor charges.
In Person Orders: In most cases I will be taking measurements for these orders and will guarantee the fit of your costume, if it’s not right because my own mistake I’ll fix it free of charge. However, I am not responsible for any fitting problems do to weight gain or loss from the time of ordering to the due date or after.
If I am drafting a pattern for your costume, the size will be taken directly from your measurements.
Will you make a costume from a purchased pattern?
You bet! I will make any garment from a purchased pattern that you have. I also have a large collection of patterns and I can put pieces together from many patterns to get the look you want.
I have this, photo, sketch, link, rough idea for a costume can you make it?
Probably. If it can be sewn, most positively. I’ve made a lot of different costumes and props over the years. Unfortunately I don’t have photos of everything I have made, so if you have something in mind that you don’t see on my sight, just ask. We can talk over your ideas it might be something I will be happy to take on.
I just need clear, photos or sketches of the item you would like made. Multi-views of the garment help to get a better over all idea of what you are looking for. I can reproduce just about anything.
I want to get this style gown, but I think the colors and design elements might look weird together. Can you help?
Absolutely! If it's weird looking, I will tell you! I’m definitely not shy and when YOU look good, it makes ME look good, so I definitely want you to look good! That is why you are a full part of the designing process, so you know and love what you will be getting.
How do I care for my costume?
Each costume is given to you with a care guide. Since each costume is made from varying materials there is no general rule of thumb for care.
